The Langhe Rosso Marcarini is made from the assemblage of three important, separately vinified grapes: Barbera d’Alba DOC 60%, Barolo DOCG (in its third year of aging) 30% and Syrah (an intriguing vine) 10%.
The selected, mature grape bunches achieve their maximum expression through traditional winemaking methods, during which a prolonged maceration period exalts each of the wine’s particular features.

When the correct level of evolution is attained, according to Marcarini’s experience, the wines are blended together and aged for over twenty months in mid-size oak barrels. An additional refinement in the bottle of about six months confers substance and superb equilibrium to the wine. The wine has a splendid, intense ruby-red color with garnet-color reflections. The nose is full, intense and curiously complex; it recalls dried roses, sweet tropical spices, cassis and vanilla. It has an excellent harmony and a correct sensation of warmth in the tasting. The tannins are quite noble and well-evolved. The sensations in the mouth are infinite and very seductive.
“
Wine softens and tempers the spirit, eases anxieties, and ignites our passion and joy when our spirit’s flame is low. If we drink moderately, taking little sips at a time, the wine drips in our lungs like the sweetest morning dew. That’s when the wine, rather than causing us to act against reason, kindly invites us to take part in a most enjoyable, happy experience.”
Socrates – Greek philosopher – 470-401 B.C.
